- You can only re-install the software if you have the Original Windows
Operating System with the License Code Provided with the LifeBook and a
Windows Floppy Boot disk with CDROM support. With Windows NT as well as the
Windows NT CDROM there are an additional three Windows NT Setup floppy disks
that are required.
- Before you start you will need to make sure that your LifeBook is
Connected to both the CDROM and the Floppy Disk Drive, If your unit is
modular the CDROM should be in the Module bay and the Floppy Drive on the
External Cable.
- There are some differences between LifeBook models as to the exact
Location of the Drivers, they will be in a folder called Fujitsu but the sub
folders within this might differ slightly. The paths given below can act as
a guide.
Warning
- The re-install process will remove all data from your hard drive,
please back up all information before you start.

Recovery |
| 1. |
Copy the entire
contents of C:\Fujitsu to D:\Fujitsu. You can do this
either within windows using explorer or if you are unable to boot into
windows using DOS and the XCOPY command. You must copy all the contents
of the subfolders. |
| 2. |
Boot into DOS
Mode. At C: Prompt type Format C:
This will delete all information from you c: drive. When the
format is complete restart your LifeBook. |
| 3. |
Go into the BIOS
under the Boot Menu please change the Boot Priority to A: First. |
| 4. |
Insert the Windows
Floppy Boot disk and boot from this. This will boot to a c: Prompt. Type
e: enter, This should be the drive letter for your CDROM. |

Insert the Windows
95 CDROM Disk. From the e: prompt type SETUP |
| 6. |
Follow all the on
screen instructions and Install Windows 95. Restart the machine when
prompted.

When Windows 95
has finished installing you need to install the Fujitsu device drivers
for the Video and Audio etc........ |
| 8. |
Copy the contents
of d:\fujitsu\drivers\win95\inf to c:\windows\inf
When prompted replace existing files.
Copy the contents of d:\fujitsu\drivers\win95\vxd to
c:\windows\system
When prompted replace existing files.

Restart Windows in
Safe Mode. Go into Control Panel and select Device Manager. Remove any
devices listed under OTHER DEVICES and PC CARD entries. |
| 10. |
If you have a
version of Windows that has USB Support.
Insert the Windows 95 CD
Select the Run command from the Start Menu.
Type e:\other\usb\usbsupp.exe
This will install the USB Supplement. If prompted say yes to keep ay
existing files.
When completed the PC will restart |

Windows will
detect Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller. When asked
for location of UHCD.SYS File type c:\windows\system |
| 12. |
In device manager
under PCMCIA Socket is two entries for your PCMCIA Socket (e.g. PCIC
Texas Instrument PCI1220 CardBus Controller). Go into the properties of
the first of this device. In the box at the bottom untick Disable in
this hardware Profile. Repeat for the second device. |

To install the
Video Driver.
Select Display Properties in Control Panel. Choose the Settings Tab.
Click the Advanced Properties Button. Select the Change button, Click
Have Disk. In the box type D:\Fujitsu\drivers\win95\video.
Select the Device that is listed. Restart Windows. Go into Settings in
Display Properties and Increase the Resolution to 800 x 600. This should
now fill your screen. |

To install the
Audio Driver.
Select System Properties in Control Panel. In Device Manager select
Sound Video and Game Controllers Should be a listing for a sound device.
Select the properties of this device. Click on the Driver tab and choose
Update Driver. When prompted choose other location and type
d:\fujistu\drivers\win95\audio
Follow instructions on screen. If asked again for file location type
d:\fujistu\drivers\win95\audio. Restart Windows when prompted |

Your Installation
of the Windows Operating System is now complete. |
| Windows NT
Recovery |
| 1. |

contents of C:\Fujitsu to D:\Fujitsu. You can do this

Video Driver.
Select Display Properties in Control Panel. Choose the Settings Tab.
Click the Display Type Button. Select the Change button,
Click Have Disk. In the box type D:\Fujitsu\drivers\video
Select the Device that is listed. Confirm that you wish to Install the
device. Exit display Properties and restart Windows. Go into Settings in
Display Properties and Increase the Resolution to 800 x 600. This should
now fill your screen. |

To install the
Audio Driver
Select Multimedia Properties in Control Panel. Choose the Devices Tab.
Click the Add Button. Highlight Unlisted or Updated Driver
then click OK. Type D:\Fujitsu\drivers\audio
Select the Device that is listed. When prompted Restart Windows. |

To install
Power Panel - (Optional on Selected LifeBooks)
Select Run from the Start Menu. Type D:\Fujitsu\PwrPnl\Setup
Click OK and follow on screen instructions. |
| 8. |
To install Card
Executive - (Optional on Selected LifeBooks)
Select Run from the Start Menu. Type D:\Fujitsu\CardExec\Setup
Click OK and follow on screen instructions. |

Your Installation
of the Windows Operating System is now complete. |
