SigmaTel audio driver Uninstall Instruction, After audio fail after Vista upgrade Rating Options

If you have migrated a system to Vista which previously had a working SigmaTel audio driver installed on it, please use the following steps to uninstall it and reinstall afterwards

So the process is :

Select "Control Panel" from the Start button menu
Select "Uninstall a program"
Select "SigmaTel Audio" and click on "Uninstall". If "SigmaTel Audio" does not appear on this dialog, then go to the Alternative method section.
Select OK to confirm removing the previous SigmaTel Audio software.
The following dialog will appear while the software is being removed.
This will uninstall the previous SigmaTel audio device driver from your system.
You can now install an updated driver or reinstall the previously working driver.

Alternative Method:

Select "Control Panel" from the Start button menu
Select "Hardware and Sound" on the Control Panel.
Select "Device Manager" on the Hardware and Sound dialog.
Click on the plus sign (+) next to "Sound, video and game controllers" to display "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC".
Right-click on "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC" and select "Uninstall"
Be sure to check the "Delete the driver software for this device" checkbox, then select OK.
This will uninstall the previous SigmaTel audio device driver from your system.
You can now install an updated driver or reinstall the previously working driver.

Hello. I've just installed a Vista Home Premium upgrade on my Packard Bell Easynote G1340 (used to have XP) and my sound has gone too! I went to Media Audio Controller Properties and it said 'The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28.)' Items not installed= Multimedia Audio Controller; Network controller; PCI Modem and SM Bus Controller.
I'm not sure what to do as this laptop is not yet connected to the internet. Do I need to buy a new video card which supports Direct X9 and contains video drivers for Vista?
On XP my laptop was great and I loved using 'Sonic Record.' I need to get my Vista Multimedia working asap. Should I take it to PC World or is there a cheaper alternative?
I'm currently online with our Apple Mac, using dial up as we live out of broadband range. What would I need to enable me to have my laptop connected to the internet at home (wireless through the mac?)

TBH if i was you i would go back to XP, the laptop you barely lies above minimal spec, but if you are determined to use it then try installing xp drivers, i have had allot of success with them and older hardware, your downloads can be got here

- Creatix SAA7131, Hybrid Capture Device
- Logitech USB headset
- Realtek High Definition Audio
so maybe you got any solutions for them? I hope so...
By the way, my graphics card is a Geforce 7650 GS
and I didn't upgraded my pc, it's just a new one with Vista home pre-installed..

Edit: I guess I managed to fix this.. I don't know for sure but it didn't go down for like 5 hours now (with playing music, talking on TS etc)
there's a new update for realtek soundshizzle on the realtek site. Last update was 27/04/07 (day, month, year) so just like 3 days ago.. I downloaded it and so far no problems yet!

I have been having problems with my Dell XPS 1210 concerning the audio issues you are talking about.

I bought the laptop brand new from Dell. Everything was going along fine until I updated something thru Windows Updater (Automatic Upgrade) and started receiving an error message (800700C1) and issues with my c:\ windows\system32\slwga.dll file. I was unable to have my laptop verified by Windows to receive any more updates. Never did figure out that issue. Instead, I reinstalled with Windows Vista Ultimate. Fixed the Windows Update problem, but lost my sound.
I tried what may websites and troubleshooters suggested. I uninstalled the drivers, the software and let the machine plug-and-play the audio codec back in....none of it worked. I downloaded many drivers from Dell and DriverAgent.com. My problem was that I never checked the compatibility with my SPECIFIC laptop! I just downloaded Vista drivers and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. My computer would download and recognize "Sigma Tel Driver Downloaded Correctly" but I still had a red circle over my volume icon in the system tray with the message "No Audio Output Device".

Thanks to this site and a couple others...I finally got the right info.
This is the one that helped me repair my Dell XPS M1210.

here's one for you. I have uninstalled Vista and gone back to XP with the sigma tel HDA. Now does anyone know of a compatable driver for XP to get the sound working again since this codec was designed for Vista?
