| 1. Plug in and turn on the computer.
2. Insert the 1st CD-ROM titled 'Fujitsu Siemens Computers Product
Recovery CD-ROM 1' that came with the computer into the DVD tray and
close it.
3. Make sure that you can boot from a DVD/CD Drive
Go to the BIOS - press DEL, few seconds after you turn the pc on; go
to the 'Advanced BIOS features' submenu to configure the boot priority
order. 
4. When you see the prompt on screen 'Boot from CD, Press any Key to
boot from CD'', press any key on the keyboard.
The installation program starts and the 'Windows Setup' menu appears
on the screen.
Your computer will now load the files it needs from the DVD/CD in
order to install Windows XP MCE on your computer. This will take a few
minutes.
5. After the relevant files have been loaded, the 'Windows XP MCE
Setup' menu appears (don't worry if it says Windows XP Professional,
this is normal). Press ENTER to continue.
6. The setup process will pause and you will see the Windows XP Media
Center License Agreement on screen. You must accept the agreement in
order to proceed. Press F8.
7. In the next screen that appears, click ESC for don't repair.

8. In the following menu - with the UP & DOWN arrow keys - select
Drive C: from the list, press the letter D on the keyboard to delete the
selected partition and confirm by pressing Enter.
9. On the next screen press L.
10. On the next screen press Enter.
11. On the following screen, 4 options are available. Select with the
arrow keys the option you prefer (Format with NTFS file system is
recommended) and confirm by pressing Enter.

This function will reformat your Hard Disk - if it's the 1st time you
are formatting the drive, DO NOT select the 'QUICK option'. The computer
will now examine your Hard Disk and then automatically copy files from
the DVD/CD to continue the recovery process. This will take several
minutes.
12. When the format is finished, the computer will restart
automatically. When asked if you want to , do not press any key to boot
again from the DVD/CD, just leave the installation process to continue.
13. The Windows XP MCE setup process will continue to install the
necessary files and devices onto the computer. This will take several
minutes. During this process Windows will tell you what it is doing.
14. During the installation the computer will ask you to provide with
the following information:
i.Regional and Language Options :
You have to add the regional settings and input languages that your
system will support. Note that, the system will be configured in the
US settings, by default if you don't configure it. Very important to
make the appropriate UK changes in the settings if you want the
software to function, properly. Otherwise, you can configure it later
from inside the operating system.
ii. Personalize your Software :
Type your Name and your Organization. You must type at least you Name
- the Organization field is optional. Confirm with NEXT/Enter to
proceed.
iii. Computer Name and Administrator Password :
Type a Computer Name and Administrator Password regarding to your
preference. Confirm with NEXT/Enter to proceed.
iv. Modem Dialling Information :
This window is for configuring the Country, Area Code (or City Code)
and a number that you might dial for an outside line. You must provide
the correct information if you want to use your analog modem to
establish an Internet connection. Leave the 'Tone Dialling' box as it
is (Enabled). Confirm with NEXT/Enter to proceed.
v. Date and Time Settings :
Add Date and Time settings, plus the GMT Time Zone (Greenwich Mean
Time) for the UK. Confirm with NEXT/Enter to proceed.
vi. Network Settings :
- If the customer uses the computer as a stand-alone machine,
simply select the Typical Settings and in the next screen leave
the setting as it is (WORKGROUP). Confirm with OK/NEXT to proceed.
- If the customer is already member of a network with or without a
domain and is experienced with Network settings, then, he/she can
either choose Custom Settings that enables him/her to choose which
Network Protocols / Adapters they want to use; or typical and add
the Workgroup / Domain they belong too as well as any other
settings may required.
- It is recommended to select Typical Settings and configure the
Network Settings later once the Operating System has been
installed
The Windows XP setup process will continue installing the files it
needs. This will take several minutes. During this process Windows XP
will tell you what it is doing. Your computer will automatically
re-start and the setup process will continue.
15. A prompt will appear on the screen 'To improve the appearance of
visual elements, Windows will automatically adjusted your screen
resolution'. Click on the box marked OK. After the screen has been
adjusted, Windows XP will ask you to confirm that you can read some
text. Confirm with OK.
16. Windows XP presents you with a screen welcoming you to Microsoft
Windows.
To continue click on NEXT in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

17. Now, you prompted to configure the Internet Connection. You can
choose NEXT if you are ready to connect to the Web, or by choosing SKIP
the Internet connection at that stage and configure it through the
Operating System, later.

18. Then, you prompted to register online with Microsoft (Internet
Connection must be available), otherwise you can choose "No, not at
this time" and do it later from inside the OS.

19. Windows XP prompts you to enter the name of its person who will
use the computer. You may type, up to 5 names. At least one name must be
entered. A separate user account will be setup for each user. When you
have finished click NEXT in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. 
20. Windows XP completes the installation process. Click on 'Finish'
in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.

21. Remove the 1st Recovery CD-ROM from the DVD/CD drive and store it
in a safe place.
