Hi, Sarah261; The first thing we need to know is exactly what type of PC are you using? ... The make and model number would be you fine. ...... If you can also let us know the size of your hard-drive, that would also be most helpful. Do you have a reinstall disk, or a reinstall partition that came with your PC..? Depending on what your machine is, we would be looking at either a dual-boot Operating System, or perhaps stripping out your Vista and installing Windows XP by itself. One thing you will certainly need to do is to back-up any photographs or documents, etc that you have put on your PC so far. ... I think we shall be looking at a hard-drive reformat somewhere along the line - and all of those pretty pictures will disappear. I know it's very frustrating for you, but don't worry. ... We will tell you how to get there, step-by-step. -------------------- We are all doomed, doomed I tell you.

I have had to get a new hard drive for my HP laptop that had Vista on, I have installed Vista Business back onto my laptop but cant register it it says invalid keycode any idea how I can get the code I need as its not readable on the laptop and I only have days to register, can anyone HELP PLEASE OK, let's have a look here.. First off, please tell us the model number of your HP laptop. Is this the laptop you bought with Vista Business edition on it? Did HP provide you with an original (genuine) DVD with Vista Business on it, or have you been using a Recovery programme? Assuming that (1) it is the same HP laptop that you bought - with a new hard-drive - and (2) you have a genuine copy of Vista Business, there is no real problem in getting a valid registration number. It will be your original number which will be allowed by Microsoft. You only get about three shots at re-regestering Vista before your number becomes invalid - it's the way they stop their OS disks being copied. ... You simply contact Microsoft and explain what has happened. They will permit the reactivation of your original serial number. I have always found it is easier to do this over the telephone (it's a free call), and they will give you a huge number to input. ... Then everything is back to normal. If things are not as easy to resolve as we hope (by the above method), please explain about your equipment and software in more depth. We should be able to advise you. Take care now mon ami. -------------------- We are all doomed, doomed I tell you.
