I have tried this twice before in the past, second time it took a few attempts, but it worked. But now when i try it it tells me to restart taking out the disc etc. then when i do restart it gets to the second screen where it says boot from... and just stops and continuously flashes. This is the problem i had the second time, but repeating the process 2/3 times, eventually it worked.I wondered if this was a known problem or my own unique problem. Any advice? also i have borrowed a xp home cd, but i dont think its possible to reinstal windows manually just using my cd code from the tower sticker. Dont no if this thread is still alive, but any help would be much appreciated.

There could be corruption in your backup, but it could also be a hardware fault, why where you remastering in first place ?

i was remastering because i kept crashing, this started happening just after i had put in a new graphics card, i swicthed to the onboard graphics, which just made the crashes less frequent. It now crashes every so often, but i now dont think it is down to the graphics card, maybe a fault with the hard drive, but what is the likelihood of that? i read somewhere tht running S.M.A.R.T might help, but im not sure it is a hard drive problem as surely the problem would occur at specific points rather then seemingly random. Also the problems started occuring after i converted my file system to ntfs, could this have in someway corrupted my hard drive. Thanks for your help.

Could also be a memory fault, try running these diagnostics

I would almost def say theres a hardware fault, trying loading bios default and testing again

I'm not sure how id go about doing that? it appeared to be running the same tests over and over so i stopped it after the 3rd loop as it had been doing it for over an hour. a hardware fault, sounds expensive lol. Thanks again.
